    • The course will be well marked with ground mounted signs at each intersection and confirmation signage down trail from each turn.

    • There will be course volunteers at major turns as well to help keep you headed in the right direction.

    • Parking will be available at the MERC main parking lot and lower overflow lots. These will be signed accordingly to help guide you.

    • IF needed, we will have additional overflow parking at the intersection of Apison Pike & MERC Lane which will be a short walk or warmup to the race start.

    • We love spectators and this race is very spectator friendly!

    • A short hike from the start/finish line are multiple opportunities to see your racers on course. We’ll have signs and general instructions on race to help you watch the race unfold in real time.

    • The finish line is also a great spectator spot as you’ll see runners enter the MERC lower track for the final ¼ mile sprint!

    • Footwear | We always recommend trial running shoes for trail racing! They will support your feet and ankles the best while providing ideal traction. That said, road running shoes will certainly get the job done but will be risky if the course is wet.

    • Hydration | This is a cup-less event meaning there will be NO disposable cups at the aid stations. You must carry your own water bottle, soft flask, running belt, running vest, hydration pack, cooler, zip lock bag of water, whatever you prefer.

    • Running Clothes | Clothes are generally required and speed is usually relative to short length unless you’re Courtney Dauwalter.

    • We strongly discourage personal audio devices like headphones, earbuds, jam boxes, etc.

    • We strongly encourage making friends on the trail and having great conversations. This also makes the race go by much faster!

    • Trying to pass someone who can’t hear you can be really frustrating and cause a startling reaction.

    • We all have different goals but please be courteous to other racers on the course. Unless you are at the front of the race competing for a podium, embrace running your best while also encouraging others. Let faster runners pass and work hard to keep up with them. Find the race within the race and remember this is for fun!

  • Frequently Asked Questions:

    1. What if it rains?

      1. We love the rain and Bauxite Ridge drains remarkably well. The race will go on unless stormy weather makes it unsafe.

    2. Is there a refund policy?

      1. Unfortunately there are no refunds. If you are unable to run on race day, we will certainly work with you to make sure you get your swag though.

    3. Are Pets (Dogs, Cats, Burrows, Etc) Allowed?

      1. We love all pets but they are not allowed on the race course. Racers would get too distracted spending all their energy playing with your pet and miss their cutoff time.
